Sarn - The Dark Times
Before the time of man the Astoff ruled Sarn, they were humanoids, thinner and taller than humans with sharp features, long faces, and eyes of grey, black, or yellow. They have a thin, angular frame, and limbs that look like they are made of nothing but strings of muscle knotted around bone. The nose is almost flush with the face lacking any bridge.
They took the humans as slaves and followed the rule of a long line of rulers known as Crasimoff, their king and representative of their god A’stall. The last of these rulers, Crasimoff LXVI, discovered the secret of immortality and shared the secret with his close allies and flunkies ensuring their loyalty and his continued rule.
After nearly 500 years of rule, the Astoff of the south began to worship the evil human gods of their human slaves, in particular F’nor and V’garn. Eventually a war broke out between the two sides, known as the great Astoff War. Crasimoff and his army faced off against the Pentacle led by the five Liche Kings who had attained their own immortality through necromantic practices. The wizards and priests of both sides spawned many monstrosities and aberrations to fight at their sides and gave birth to creatures such as the Bullette. Several huge battles were fought and both sides suffered heavily loses.
The Astoff race came to an end in a period of less than a decade when a plague broke out that proved fatal to only their race. The plague was believed to have been started by priests of V’garn trying to gain an edge over the forces of Crasimoff LXVI. The human slaves rose up and overthrew the few remaining Astoff and so began the age of man.
