K’nor is a benevolent God who believes that all men should be at liberty to determine their own destiny as long as this destiny does not lead to a path into darkness. K’nor is therefore opposed to the evil Gods, especially his brother F’nor, the God of Death V’garn and his evil offspring Orcus. K’norians have an uneasy alliance with T’gellenites but disapprove of their overly warlike approach; they regard T’gellenites as bloodthirsty barbarians. K’nor is usually portrayed as an old but healthy man, with white hair and beard, dressed in white robes. K’nor is strongly opposed to needless violence.
Priests who wish to be members of the K’norians sect must be of good alignment and if they have committed an evil act in the past they must perform a penance before being admitted to the sect. A priest who has killed a sentinel being in cold blood will never be admitted. The behaviour expected of a K’norian priest borders on saintly. They must avoid bringing harm to an intelligent being. They must never allow an intelligent being to be harmed by another if there is a way to prevent it, even at the cost of their own life. They must never refuse aid to anyone in need unless this would result in harm to a third party. For breaking any of these strictures, the priest could expect loss of one or more powers or abilities until the penance was made. However their beliefs do not restrict them for killing for food and they will be extremely keen to destroy evil doers, undead creatures or the evil beings summoned by followers of the evil Gods.
In addition to their healing spells, most K’norians have a wide knowledge of medicine and medicinal herb law. They are also excellent exorcists and able to dispel most forms of undead or evil spirits. As with all of the more powerful gods, K’nor seldom makes a direct response to his priests or those who pray to him. Prayers to K’nor are usually made during midday or using a bright light source to symbolise K’nor’s presence and as a focus.
K’nor believes that people should be free to decide their own destiny without interference from other people or the Gods. His aims are to protect the weak from their aggressors and minimise the influence of his evil brother F’nor on events. His followers are the healers of the world and quoting their most famous High Priest, ‘Kindness is a language that the deaf can hear and the blind can read.’
In recent history the church of K’nor was decimated when the World Wound was created. This led to a direct order from K’nor and a fundamental change in their beliefs. The K’norians tempered back their beliefs in mercy and it was made permissible for a priest to take the life of evil doers, rather than turn the cheek as they used to practice.
